Hello, Blogosphere.

I am a junior at the University of Maryland, majoring in communication with a focus in public relations and dabbling in marketing.  For me, writing a blog is just another thing to check off my 'required social media to land a job' check list.  At least that's what I keep telling my finance friends to avoid the inevitable, 'you blog!?' eyes of judgement.

Truthfully, I have always wanted to start a blog but felt like I didn't have anything worthwhile to write about. I wasn't going to document my studies or hash out the details of being a part of Greek life at Maryland.  I just didn't have the right opportunity to write, let alone the time.

In enters Study Abroad.

I visited my sister while she studied abroad in Rome three years ago.  At that time I was in my fourth year of high school latin, studying at the AP level.  I LOVED Roman history. While visiting, I unleashed my inner nerd, spewing out facts to my parents about the Roman Forum and the Coliseum.  In Pompeii I was captivated by the chariot tracks left behind in 79 A.D.  I was in heaven and knew I wanted to come back.

In June 2010, I applied to the Maryland-in-Rome program and was accepted shortly after.

I depart in a little over a month and will be studying at the American University in Rome.  Studying abroad will be the best opportunity for me to start a blog.  I will certainly have enough to write about and time to do so won't be in an issue, as I only have class Monday through Wednesday.

Yes, life will be good and I can't wait to come, see and conquer!
